    About us

Riccardo Bacarelli, son of Benvenuto, runs the Bacarelli Gallery, which was founded in 1923 by his grandfather Rizieri. Throughout its history, from the early twentieth century up to the present day, the business has dealt in Italian antiques with passion and expertise.
Benvenuto Bacarelli transformed the Gallery into a commercial reference point, particularly known for dealing in classical antiques and engaging with various art forms. Since 1961, the Gallery has been participating in the Biennale dell'Antiquariato in Florence and holds a position on the Advisory Committee.
In 1990, at the age of 23, Riccardo joined his father's business and eventually took over its management in 1996.

Drawing on family tradition as the third generation of antique dealers and built upon the knowledge and experience passed down to him, Riccardo consolidated the Gallery's position, specialising in dealing in old master paintings, sculptures, and art objects, with a particular focus on Italian art from the Renaissance to Neoclassicism and, as well as continuing to take part in major Art Fairs in Italy, especially the Biennale Internazionale dell'Antiquariato in Florence, directed his attention towards establishing a presence in the International Market.

  • Since 2011, Riccardo Bacarelli has maintained a constant presence in London, organising art exhibitions and participating in major Art Fairs such as London Art Week, Masterpiece London, Frieze Masters London, and Tefaf New York. After completing studies in Art History, Lapo, Riccardo's son, joined the family business in 2021. While continuing the tradition of well-established artistic choices, he expanded the gallery's interests to include other historical periods, thus enriching the range of offerings.
The Store is located on Via dei Fossi, a prominent street for Florentine antiquarians in the historic center. The Gallery is situated in the Palazzo della Manifattura Arte della Seta Lisio, a well-known building representing one of the most notable examples of medieval-inspired taste from the early 20th century, in perfect harmony with the furniture and art shops of the street.
